Welcome to the Office of Field Experience!
If your degree program requires a field experience or student teaching, the Office of Field Experience (OFE) supports you in setting up your field experience or student teaching so that it meets United States University’s academic and professional standards. The OFE determines if students have met all the requirements necessary to participate in field experience or student teaching courses.
College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CONHS)
Responsibilities of the COHNS OFE staff include:
- Assisting students in understanding the nature of the field experience and the expectations involved
- Approving sites and preceptors for field experience to ensure they meet USU CONHS standards
- Assisting students in the practicum application process, if required
- Confirming students meet all health and safety requirements for the experience
- Counseling students as needed
- Communicating with sites and preceptors as necessary
- Communicating with the field experience instructors as necessary

College of Education (COE)
Responsibilities of the COE OFE staff include:
- Assisting students in understanding the nature of the student teaching and the expectations involved
- Confirming students meet all health and safety requirements for the experience including Certificate of Clearance, TB Test, Covid, CPR.
- Confirming students meet all testing requirements including CSET, CBEST,RICA.
- Counseling students as needed
- Communicating with sites and cooperating teachers as necessary
- Communicating with the University Supervisors as necessary
- Approving school districts, school sites and cooperating teachers to ensure they meet USU COE standards
- Serve as a liaison between students and their student teaching experience including monitoring required hours
