Program Director – College of Education

United States University has an opening for a Program Director to join the College of Education. This is a remote position.

Position Description:

The person in this role is responsible for all operational aspects of the EdD, Organizational Leadership program as well as the EdS program. Responsibilities include the development of the process and procedures for the program, including a program handbook, template creation, oversight of course. development, IRB process, the dissertation coursework, etc. The program director will be responsible for the creation of faculty qualifications for teaching, chairing, and working as a committee member in the program with the unique opportunity to grow a team of adjunct and full-time faculty members. The program director will work closely with the college leadership team in support of a cohesive portfolio of programs and the assurance of student success.

Essentials Duties & Responsibilities

Teaching and Advising

  • Effectively facilitate learning and student and faculty development through regular and substantive interaction.
  • Teach within the program when called upon based on program starts and student enrollment.
  • Support the development of all aspects of the EdD and EdS program.
  • Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Design and oversee the assessment and evaluation strategies of the program with a focus on continuous improvement of student outcomes.
  • Leading program improvement efforts, including active contribution to and participation in the Educational Effectiveness program, academic program review, and annual student learning assessments.

Governance

  • Provide leadership to program faculty, particularly in evaluating them, modeling, and ensuring adherence to the program, college, and University policies and decisions.
  • Participate in Shared Governance activities, including developing, updating, and disseminating any programunique policies and procedures necessary to ensure both program excellence and compliance with College and University policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a climate that promotes creativity and intellectual innovation.

Scholarship and Service

  • Engage in intellectual activities and scholarship to remain current in the field.
  • Engage in professional, institutional, and community service (where appropriate).
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Regionally accredited terminal degree is required in a related field.
  • Experience with terminal outcome (dissertation/applied dissertation) quality control.
  • Experience with the regional accreditation process, requirements, and implementation
  • Experience with assessing program and student learning.
  • Experience with application of professional experience
  • Experience with distance learning and academic technology
  • Extensive experience in supporting all aspects of a terminal degree including work with IRB, chair and committee roles as well as teaching experience at the doctoral level.
  • Knowledge of best practices in doctoral education to support student completion and success.

  • Commitment to frequent and timely communication with EdD doctoral students
  • Offer clear guidance to EdD students and faculty to support progress and successful program completion.
  • Provide feedback on EdD Dissertation drafts to include topic selection, methods, design, analytics, interpretation of research, and professional scholarly writing.
  • Provide formal academic review feedback as requested.
  • Participate in the oral presentations of doctoral candidates.
  • Provide extensive training, support and mentoring for faculty members working in the EdD and EdS programs.
