Position Overview:

The President and Chief Executive Officer provides overall strategic direction to the university staff and faculty to achieve forecasted results while maintaining the highest level of compliance with the standards of the Department of Education and adherence with expectations of an accredited institution of higher education. This role works within the guidelines established by the Board of Trustees, while guiding academic development and maintenance of competitive programs and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the University.

Salary: $250,000-$300,000

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Provide visionary leadership with a high degree of energy and creativity and create an effective, systemic approach to fulfill the mission and strategic goals of the University.
  • Foster inclusive and collaborative leadership that respects the ideas and needs of all stakeholders by supporting and complying with the University's participatory governance system.
  • Foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice in all matters.
  • Attract and retain outstanding faculty, staff, and administrators and motivate them to achieve high standards in pursuit of academic excellence.
  • Analyze operations to evaluate a university's performance and its staff in meeting objectives and determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change.
  • Direct, plan and implement policies, objectives, and activities to ensure continuing operations, maximize returns on investments, and increase productivity.
  • Work with the executive team and key stakeholders to determine the strategic direction of the University.
  • Exhibit an openness to innovation necessary to succeed in today’s higher education market.

Program and Service Excellence:

  • Support and enhance teaching and learning in a student-centered, student-focused culture.
  • Foster faculty and staff development to meet the needs of future program and course development.
  • Promote innovative partnerships between student support services and instruction.
  • Fiscal Accountability and Facilities Development and Planning
  • Ensure the fiscal health of the University while staying competitive with surrounding academic institutions.
  • Lead the continued redevelopment and construction of university facilities and the campus environment.
  • Pursue new revenue opportunities while meeting state approval and program accreditation standards.

University and Community Relations

  • Be accessible to students and adaptable to the ever-changing diversity of our student population.
  • Articulate the philosophy of a positive campus community while promoting a culture of relationship building.
  • Promote positive relationships and build bridges with the communities served by the University and establish a visible and prominent presence in the community.
  • Confer with board members, organization officials, and staff members to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve problems.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Terminal degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years experience as Chief Executive Officer or Vice President of a post-secondary institution.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and electronic mail software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks on time within a fast-paced environment.
  • Broad knowledge of the philosophy and mission of the University
  • Ability to think strategically and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of professional integrity
  • Maintains a positive, helpful, constructive attitude while working with the Board of Trustees, ownership group, university staff, students, and the community.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills in a dynamic, constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to work effectively, exhibit a professional manner, and establish constructive working relationships.
  • Attention to detail and quality focused.
  • Show an openness to working in the for-profit world of higher education.
  • Work in an environment with a larger corporate owner.

Work Environment:

The job's essential functions are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
