Position Description:
The Director of Institutional Research is responsible to oversee the institutional research function at United States University. Reporting to the Provost and working in collaboration with other Academic and Business Affairs departments, the DIR promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement/assurance and data-driven decision making at USU. The DIR enhances organizational success through support for the institutional and educational effectiveness at USU.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establishes, administers, facilitates, and coordinates institutional research activities including collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting information
- Provides useable statistical and relational data for assessment of student learning; academic strategic planning; accreditation; programmatic, state, and federal reporting; business intelligence; program/curriculum review; and other purposes
- Monitors and ensures the overall integrity of data, complying with state, federal, and accreditor requirements and taking appropriate steps to correct discrepancies when noted
- Maintains, analyzes, and distributes data, studies, and/or research to support academic strategic planning and business intelligence
- Collaborates with the technology department to develop and maintain data warehouses that support institutional research requirements
- Acts as keyholder for each institution’s IPEDS system
- Prepares state and federal accountability reports according to documented requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Creates and maintains KPI reports and dashboards for academic and business departments
- Collaborates with others to address their data visualization and reporting needs
- Ensures and monitors the implementation of end‐of course, end‐of program, faculty engagement, alumni, and other requested surveys through EvaluationKit
- Develops and implements policies and procedures appropriate to the institutional research function
- Develops and provides training in institutional research practices for administration and staff as needed
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience working in institutional research in higher education, for‐profit preferred
- Experience using institutional databases and online learning management platforms
- Demonstrated experience in the collection, analysis, reporting, and presentation of research data
- Ability to communicate nuanced information in a clear and concise manner
- Detail-oriented, organized, logical and critical thinker
- Master’s degree in statistics, research methodology, evaluation, or closely related field required
- Doctorate preferred
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Tableau and SPSS/SAS/SQL for processing, visualizing, and analyzing data
- CampusVue or other student information systems
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Skills and Location:
- Advanced expertise in statistics, research methodologies, and predictive analytics
- Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices
- EvaluationKit for survey development and deployment
