USU’s dedicated administration and staff work in concert with our faculty and board of trustees to foster a positive, supportive learning environment for our students. USU staff members – many of whom are bilingual – are dedicated professionals who have experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students. The USU staff is dedicated to preparing students of every age to learn the skills necessary to succeed in an increasingly global economy.

Steven Stargardter, Ph.D.

President
Dr. Stargardter became Provost and Chief Academic Officer of United States University in January of 2013.  A native of New York City, he received his undergraduate degree at Fordham University and his doctorate at Boston College.  He spent a year during his doctoral studies as a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Mainz, Germany, researching his dissertation: “Niklas Vogt, 1756-1836: A Personality of the Late Enlightenment and Early Romantic Movement.”  He went on to receive a J.D. from the University Of Washington School of Law in 1991. Dr. Stargardter has served as a faculty member, Continuing Education Director, Undergraduate Dean, and Provost and Chief Academic Officer. For the past 15 years he served as sitting President of first City University of Seattle and then John F. Kennedy University. Among other achievements, he oversaw the reaffirmation of regional and specialized accreditations at both institutions. Dr. Stargardter is especially committed to the creation and maintenance of a transformative and supportive educational environment for students traditionally underserved by American colleges and universities.

Dr. Eileen Heveron
Dr. Heveron’s professional career spans over four decades, during which time she provided service in both university administration as well as information technology as it relates to colleges and universities.  Among other roles, she has served as a Registrar, Assistant Dean, Vice President Information Technology, Assistant to the President, adjunct faculty, Provost and Chief Academic Officer.  During her career, Dr. Heveron was also involved in fund raising at a university and with a non-profit organization, information technology consulting for colleges and universities with two companies, served on many WSCUC teams, and on both state and national boards of examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
Dr. Heveron earned her B.S. Biological Sciences from UC Irvine, her M.A. Management from the University of Redlands, and her Ph.D. in Education from The Claremont Graduate University.  Her volunteer work has included twenty three years of therapy dog volunteering at hospitals, libraries, nursing homes and the like; she now serves on the Board (Treasurer) of Paws’itive Teams and as an Instructor for the organization’s Therapy Dog Preparation Class.  Eileen and her husband, Hank Beck, have been married for 31 years and live in Valley Center, CA with their four standard poodles, including Dexter, Eileen’s service dog.

Michael served 10 years in the US Navy as an Aviation Ordnanceman and Recruiter. He has experience in the higher education industry as an admissions/enrollment advisor and most recently, an Enrollment Manager at Ashford University. He is a father of 2 (18, 16 years old) and 2 dogs (Boxer & Chihuahua). Michael is an avid UCLA, LA Dodger and Oakland Raider fan and loves camping and trout fishing with his Fiance, Alex.
