This commercial driver’s license training program is designed for those wanting to prepare for a career in commercial truck driving. It is also a great transportation training for students wanting to enter the tractor-trailer driving industry with first-hand knowledge of the commercial driving profession. This CDL training provides the skills needed for transportation professionals to work with commercial tractor-trailers, whichprovides greater career options upon completion of the program. This program is very hands-on with the latest equipment and tractor-trailers.

Students will also meet the training requirement for entry-level CMV drivers (49 CFR Part 380) by obtaining their entry-level driver certificate.  The course curriculum satisfies the requirements needed to obtain employment and/or career advancement. This course of study prepares a student for occupation as a Heavy and Tractor-trailer Truck Driver.

Students are expected to attend all class days, whether live in-class or through a virtual classroom. Students are given assessment quizzes throughout the training period, at mid-point of training and the end of training.

Assessment quizzes require a passing score of 65%. These scored are to benchmark the students progression and attainment of knowledge, and do not count towards a final grade. Any student who does not pass will have the instructor’s guidance to help them better understand the course material. Upon completion of all the required training, students will be issued a Certificate of Completion from United States University.

Program Learning Outcomes

A comprehensive working knowledge of the transportation profession, in order to perform the job of a commercial driver’s license professional. This program also helps you get prepared for commercial driver’s license testing, both written and hands on. You’ll establish a working knowledge of the fundamentals of commercial truck driving, and gain hands on truck driver experience. In addition, the real world experience will allow you to develop your driving skills by working with authentic tractor-trailers.

Programmatic Admissions Requirements

In order to be eligible for this training course offered by United States University, an applicant must be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum of U.S. high school diploma (of GED) or its equivalent from

another country. Students are required to have a valid driver’s license from the student’s resident state and drug free and free of physical impairments that would prohibit safe operation of the equipment. Each student

must have an acceptable driving record during the previous three years and must pass the U.S. Department of Transportation physical examination in order to meet Federal requirements following graduation.
