This position will interact with campus and online students to provide university information and program advising, as well as act as a resource for academic and non-academic related issues. The Educational Advisor is directly responsible for improving and maintaining student retention and success in the university through a variety of efforts.


  • Provide accurate advisement to students in accordance with University policies
  • Demonstrate a commitment to student persistence, perseverance and success
  • Demonstrate a commitment to nontraditional education and the mission, vision, and values of United States University
  • Communicate university policies and procedures to campus and online students
  • Assist with planning, development and presentation for new student orientation
  • Follow up regularly with students regarding course attendance and online participation
  • Advise students on academic improvement strategies
  • Identify students’ needs for support services in order to make appropriate referrals
  • Attend advising staff and university meetings
  • Participate in retention efforts, including outbound phone calls and emails
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Meet department expectations regarding phone calls, registration, and documentation
  • Regular, reliable, attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited university
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • 1- 2 years of work experience in a higher education setting
  • Computer skills and proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Flexible to work day, evening, and or weekends as dictated by University need
