Leveraging Social Media
In this article, you will learn about the different ways you can use social media in your job search, AND as an extension of your personal branding.
Let’s begin by taking a look at how most people approach looking for a job.
They ask friends and family, “Do you know who’s hiring?” They are proud to share the fact they applied to 50 jobs on line, and plan to apply to 50 more over the next 2 weeks.
Then they wait…and wait…and wait. And, when they don’t hear from those 50+ companies they think something is wrong with their resume, and they are sad.
Actually, what is wrong is that this way of looking for jobs never worked. It is simply faster now, and the job seeker has many job boards from which to choose (e.g. monster.com, indeed.com, Careerbuilder.com, SimplyHired.com.). Employers are also adding to a job seeker’s grief, as they typically require resumes to be submitted on line.
