Director of RN to BSN Program


DEPARTMENT: Nursing                                                                      

POSITION REPORTS TO: Dean, College of Nursing



Essential functions:

  • Interview prospective students and recommend acceptance or rejection as needed
  • Teach an average of 8 courses per academic year
  • Work with Assistant Dean to select adjunct faculty for teaching in the program
  • Mentor adjunct faculty in courses taught in the RN to BSN program
  • Work with faculty teaching in the RN to BSN program to revise courses and curriculum
  • Assist Clinical Placement Coordinator to secure clinical sites for RN to BSN students
  • Work with preceptors and agencies to be sure clinical experiences are appropriate
  • Verify that all students have met all clinical requirements before starting clinical courses
  • Serve on appropriate college and university committees
  • Provide information to Dean about faculty performance
  • Be available for weekly office hours
  • Participate in choosing full-time faculty for the program
  • Participate in community service and in clinical 1 day a week
  • Attend and participate in all faculty meetings
  • Take part in major academic events such as pinning and graduation
  • Participate in exhibiting at conferences as requested
  • Assist with all accreditation projects and activities



Special Conditions of Employment: Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.  Need to be able to work flexible hours particularly given campuses’ extended hours of operation.

Previous Experience:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • PhD, DNP, or EdD in Nursing
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in California and an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of California
  • National Certification in area of specialty
  • Recent Clinical Experience
  • Experience teaching in online nursing education
  • Experience with application of evidence into clinical practice
  • Experience with distance learning and academic technology
